concerned community members in attendance at our first letter writing campaign
Last night the first letter writing campaign was held. We hosted a group of about 20 concerned citizens – a mixture of parents, students, residents in the district, and school staff members.
Some people started off nervous about what they would write, but we helped them using a handout of suggested points (see end of the post to download your own). Each member of the group wrote hand-written letters to Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assemblyman Sheldon Silver, and Senator Dean Skelos requesting their help in fixing the huge budget crisis caused by the Gap Elimination Adjustment.

a small handful of the letters to be mailed to our representatives
We will be planning a second letter writing campaign very soon, to be held in Bainbridge.
If you would like to write your own letter, here are some resources (these are specific to Bainbridge-Guilford):
- Addresses for Our Politicians - these are the three state politicians who have not been supportive of upstate and rural school districts getting the funding they need.
- Suggestions for Writing Letters - if you need help getting your letter started, feel free to use discussion points from this document.
It’s nice to see people active and standing up for what they believe in. Apathy is prevalent in most places.
